OUR PHILOSOPHY EXPANDED

The Catholic Board of Education believes that all persons are created in the image and likeness of God, and that through the vehicle of its educational system that image will be enhanced.  The Board further believes in the fundamental principles of Christianity, and the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church.  All Catholic teachings must be rooted in the spiritual and moral precepts of the Church.  All teachers in the Catholic school environment must therefore be concerned with the spiritual, mental, physical and social growth and development of those persons entrusted to their care.  This concern is fundamental to the teaching and instilling of good Christian values into our youngsters as we prepare them to take their rightful places in our Bahamian community.  All teachers are therefore reminded that each and every child placed before them is a unique person endowed with God-given sanctity and rights.

UNIFORM AND GENERAL APPEARANCE

GENERAL UNIFORM GUIDELINES

High-heeled or open toe shoes, sandals or boots are not allowed.  Students are permitted to wear a watch. Rings, necklaces, chains, bangles or bracelets are not allowed. On cold or windy days a solid gray cardigan, without any decorations, may be worn. Two-toned, multi-colored, streaked or other fashionable hair styles are not allowed. Clean and complete uniform must be worn on all school days and whenever or wherever specified by the school for other functions. A note from a parent or guardian specifying an acceptable reason is required before a student can be excused from wearing the required uniform. The administration reserves the right to send a student home to redress, in school uniform, for any infraction of these uniform guidelines.

BOYS:
KINDERGARTEN (K) TO GRADE THREE(3)
Short dark gray trousers and white shirt with XLS (Kelly green) monogram on the pocket.
Long trousers are allowed on very cold days ( December –March)

GRADE FOUR (4) TO SIX (6)

Long gray trousers (no jean type pants) and white shirt with XLS (Kelly green) monogram on the pocket.

All boys wear black shoes, gray socks and a plaid uniform tie.

Boys must wear the cuff of their pants below their ankles and it must be no less than seven inches wide or fourteen inches around.  Long hair is not allowed.  Hair must be short enough so that the entire collar of the shirt can  be seen.

No braided hair, ponytails or other “fashionable” haircuts allowed.  Boys may wear a watch only; no other jewelry is accepted and earrings are forbidden at all times.

GIRLS:
KINDERGARTEN (K) TO GRADE FOUR(4)
Plaid jumper and with blouse with Peter Pan collar

GRADES FIVE(5) AND SIX(6)

Plaid skirt and white blouse with Peter Pan collar. The shirt pocket must have an XLS (Kelly Green) monogram.

All girls wear flat black shoes (with no decorations), white socks and kelly green uniform ties.  Girls may wear rounded gold, silver or pearl knobs and a watch.  No other jewelry will be accepted.  Only forest green, black, white, or the school plaid hair accessories are allowed. No fine plaits, hair pieces/extensions, or beads are to be worn.  Skirt hemlines must be below the knee. No make-up or nail polish whatsoever may be worn.

ALL STUDENTS:

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM

Xavier’s house T-shirt (red, blue, green or gold) with  matching shorts. New students will be assigned a house.

Regular school socks and tennis shoes.  Kindergarten and grade one(1) students wear their P.E. uniform to school on P.E. days.

SWIMMING KIT
(House coloured swim suit, pool slippers and towel, a change of underwear, swim caps for the girls)

Xavier’s Warm Up suits are optional on P.E. days
